The retreat held last
month in Carbondale yielded greater understanding between Colony members and
the Alumni Association. The meeting between interested alumni and the
Colony Executive Board was important in establishing expectations and goals
between the two organizations. Alumni Association members who attended a
meeting with the Executive Board and general membership sought to understand
how the Colony was meeting its goals, and what limitations the members felt
they were facing.
All those in attendance
agreed that the Association should serve as a source of experience and
guidance in preventing the Colony from making the mistakes that many
fraternities do. Second, the Alumni agreed to assist the Colony
financially from time to time. For example, the Association is assisting
the Colony in sending its leadership to the Phi Sigma Kappa Leadership School
this Summer. However, it was made known that we, the Alumni, expected
those in attendance to show that our investment was worthy. We are
donating approximately $200.00 toward the cost of attendance.
